Gerry Mill was a production assistant for the Doctor Who television story The Massacre. He later directed The Faceless Ones.

Career

After directing Doctor Who, Mill embarked on a successful directing career, helming episodes of The First Lady, Coronation Street, Z-Cars, Doctor on the Go, The Duchess of Duke Street, Crown Court, The Gentle Touch, Dempsey and Makepeace, Bergerac, London's Burning and Heartbeat. He also produced almost two hundred episodes of Heartbeat between 1996 and 2004.

Personal Life

He is the godfather of Benedict Cumberbatch and directed Cumberbatch's mother, Wanda Ventham, in The Faceless Ones.
