Welcome to the Tardis:About DJAitch

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. 23skidoo 16:26, July 24, 2017 (UTC)

Date pagesedit source

Hi, please don't put repeat airings of Doctor Who episodes on date pages. It was decided on Thread:121256 that we would not include repeats. Thanks, Shambala108 02:04, September 14, 2017 (UTC)

Birth/death datesedit source

Hi, please note that by Thread:178871 and Thread:177648 birth and death dates are only allowed with valid sources for them. Thanks :) OncomingStorm12th 18:11, January 12, 2019 (UTC)

The above message is not merely a request from a fellow user. It is actual policy that we don't allow unsourced birth/death dates. Please read not only the threads cited by User:OncomingStorm12th but also the original forum post at Forum:Removing ages from actor pages. Please do not continue to add unsourced birth or death dates to pages when you have been informed it is against policy. Thanks Shambala108 22:01, June 2, 2019 (UTC)

Categoriesedit source

Hi please note that when you create a new page you must include at least one category thanks Shambala108 19:13, July 13, 2019 (UTC)

Birth/death dates (revisited-ish)edit source

Regarding you recent additions to 2020 (people), I appreciate you adding the source on the edit summary, but please include them in the article as well. This way, everyone who reads the page (at any given point in the future) will be able to know where we're sourcing the information without having to go through the page's edit history. OncomingStorm12th (talk) 22:52, March 5, 2020 (UTC)

The Tides of Timeedit source

Hi, I noticed you [added the release dates] of COMIC: The Tides of Time a little under two years ago. I was wondering if you'd be able to recall where you got your source for that? I noticed the pages for DWMs it was published in only have the month of publication, as do all the Doctor Who Monthly-era mags. Thanks, Danochy 04:40, March 11, 2020 (UTC)

Audio cast stubsedit source

Hey, thanks for your recent edits at Big Finish voice actors' pages. But in future edits, please don't add Category:Audio cast stubs manually. Instead, please add audio cast stub to the top of the page. The template will add the category to the page, while also making it much more visible to other editors that the page is in need of expansion. OncomingStorm12th (talk) 16:47, April 10, 2020 (UTC)

Please take note of the above message. Thanks, --Borisashton 12:44, April 19, 2020 (UTC)
I've just seen your recent edit to Julie Cox. From editor to editor or even as a friend I urge you to carefully head OncomingStorm12th's words. I would hate for a well-meaning contributor such as yourself to get into trouble for something as easily avoidable as ignoring admin instructions. Thank you and I sincerely hope you are holding up well during this trying time, especially because I see you work as a carer. --Borisashton 22:22, April 23, 2020 (UTC)
Given that you have repeatedly ignored the above instructions (which are not requests, but are actually policies), you've been blocked for two weeks. This is not so much a punishment but rather a way to get your attention. Thanks Shambala108 14:15, April 28, 2020 (UTC)
Even after your block, you have returned to doing this. Please stop. Use audio cast stub instead. --Borisashton 18:04, July 9, 2020 (UTC)

It seems like you don't understand that you are creating extra work for other users by continually ignoring one of our rules. Blocked for a month this time. Shambala108 03:15, July 11, 2020 (UTC)

ISBNedit source

I've noticed that you've recently removed the "ISBN" from many books and CDs in your edits, and by doing so, you've delinked those books' ISBN codes from Special:Booksources. Could you please re-add "ISBN"?

Spoilers in DWM pagesedit source

Hi, thanks for creating detailed articles for the DWM issues. However, in the future, please remember to hide the spoilers, using <!-- before the spoiler, and --> after it, like this:<!--spoiler-->. Even if a future release is discussed in an published magazine, it should be kept hidden in the page, until the story is out. OncomingStorm12th 21:18, November 13, 2020 (UTC)

Cloister prisoner pagesedit source

Hi, I noticed you've just edited Dalek (Hell Bent) and Cyberman (Hell Bent) with info from TV: The Timeless Children, and I'm curious as to whether said info should really be on those pages. It's nothing wrong necessarily, just that, given that neither the Dalek nor Cyberman of TV: Hell Bent appear in The Timeless Children, nor do they get any specific mention, I wonder if any info from The Timeless Children should be on those pages. It seems sort of like adding info to a character or object page on alternate timelines that hypothetically would affect that character/object, even though they're never mentioned as being involved in that alternate timeline's events. I hope that makes sense. CyberFoundries900 17:39, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I made no contribution to Cyberman (Hell Bent), nor have I added any details to The Timeless Children on any villain pages.DJAitch 12:04, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Oh, sorry that was a stupid mistake on my part. I should've asked User:Editoronthewiki, but it's been resolved anyway. Sorry for that.

Master debutedit source

Hi! Just to explain my reversal of your edit at The Master: because the Master's debut is contested information, we have elected, for now, to leave the infobox field blank: only uncontroversial information can be put in infoboxes. Scrooge MacDuck 14:39, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Fair enough DJAitch 14:49, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Re: vandalismedit source

Hi when you see vandalism on the wiki, please let an admin know (or wait for one to take care of it). Please do not delete information from a vandalized page as it makes it harder for an admin to figure out what needs fixing thanks Shambala108 05:25, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

I apologise, was only trying to help. DJAitch 07:31, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Redundant categoriesedit source

Hi, our category system is quite difficult to explain but in short we don't want any redundancy. For example, The Taste of Death (audio story) shouldn't contain Category:Tenth Doctor audio stories or Category:2018 audio stories because those categories are in Category:The Tenth Doctor Chronicles audio stories which is already on the page. I hope this explains my recent reversions of some of your edits. All the best, Borisashton 16:46, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Fair enough, I wasn't aware of that, was only trying to make it easier for fellow users to find certain stories (hence contributing to the categories) so my intentions were good. DJAitch 16:53, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

To elaborate on what Boris said, I've found Special:CategoryTree a useful tool when it comes to understanding the relationship between categories. Eg if I want to add a category to a page, I'll first pull up its CategoryTree and see if any of the current categories are already on the list somewhere, in which case I'll know it's redundant. I don't know if that was remotely intelligible but hopefully it can be as useful to someone else as it has been to me. – n8 () 00:44, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Re: Spammer alrtedit source

All taken care of! But thank you for the alert all the same. Scrooge MacDuck 00:50, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

No problem (DJAitch }

Namesortedit source

Hi, why did you remove the NameSort tag from so many pages? Did you have admin instructions to do so? Shambala108 21:56, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Re:Vandalism Alertedit source

Thanks for the heads up! Dealt with now. OncomingStorm12th 22:17, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Thanks again for the alert. OncomingStorm12th 14:57, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
Deal with; sorry they were an annoyance, but at least they're block now. OncomingStorm12th 21:14, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Inuse tagsedit source

Hi, it's not a massive issue as I wasn't in the middle of an edit when it happened but just to let you know when you edited 2060s Dalek invasion of Earth it had a inuse tag on it meaning the page shouldn't have been edited by anyone else until I removed it or after 72 hours had passed. Thanks.

Aside from that, I'm not sure why you made that specific edit. Citations for the Hartnell episodes are perfectly allowed within policy and by definition a regular image can only be from a single episode meaning it is more accurate to source them that way. Borisashton 21:44, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

Re the inuse tag: User:Borisashton is correct. I have written a description of the tag and how to use it at template:inuse. Please make sure to read it. Shambala108 22:10, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

Deletionsedit source

Hi please do not remove content from a page you think needs to be deleted. While we appreciate the effort, it makes more work for the admins who have to figure out what content was on the page that warrants a deletion. If you want to nominate a page for deletion, please just use the Proposed deletion tag thanks Shambala108 02:47, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Redundant categories (again)edit source

Hey, please revisit the discussion that took place on User_talk:DJAitch#Redundant_categories. Most of the categories you added recently were redundant. If you find a page which is lacking a "obvious" category, please check the category tree of such page. It's likely that your missing category will be there somewhere. OncomingStorm12th 18:20, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

For(u)m Letteredit source

Hey there, I hope your Halloween was decent. As you might know, we've not had forums for over two years at this point. A few of the regular editors have been having a discussion on this topic at Forum talk:Index and we'd like the input of other prominent editors if you have the inclination. Cheers. BBC DVD coversedit source

Hi, I've been gathering every BBC DVD cover image on the wiki into one of my sandboxes, in order to see where there are any missing covers or duplicates.

Pop over and have a look, and feel free to upload any of the missing covers.

User:Doc77can/sandbox12

P.S. I'm messaging several users so check the upload log first.

Doc77can 20:31, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

Section titlesedit source

Hi, there. Just so you know, section titles are supposed to be in sentence case (so it's "Personal life", not "Personal Life"). Jack "BtR" Saxon 21:46, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

Categoriesedit source

Hi! Please don't add categories which are unnecessary for pages - for example, you added Planet X indo the categories "Unbound Doctor audio stories" / "2016 audio stories" / "Bernice Summerfield audio stories". But this is unnecessary because the story was released in a box set where all 4 stories have the same characteristics - and the page already has a category "The Unbound Universe audio stories", which in itself is already part of categories "Unbound Doctor audio stories" / "2016 audio stories" / "Bernice Summerfield audio stories". By adding them to the page, you made it look confusing in the category tree - it makes this page appear to be added twice in the same category, which is a mess. I'm trying to remove all redundant categories to make order, please don't add them back. Dmitriy Volfson 08:26, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
