At some point, Theo Possible had to leave Smiley, although he claimed that Smiley knew that he would always come back.

Although Smiley attempted to persuade Theo to stay, Theo claimed that he "need[ed] to get some narrative beneath [his] feet", although Smiley stated that they had never felt the need and that their current existence was as close as they wanted to get. Theo understood.
