Ian Chesterton was a companion of the human scientist Dr. Who and the boyfriend of Dr. Who's granddaughter, Barbara.

The Dalek Survival Guide indicated that Ian came from a version of reality "B" relative to the First Doctor and Ian Chesterton's version of reality "A". (PROSE: Dalek Survival Guide)

Biography

Ian accompanied Dr. Who, Barbara and Susan on their first trip to the planet Skaro in Tardis, a time and space machine created by Dr. Who. There, they met the Daleks and the Thals. (NOTVALID: Dr. Who and the Daleks)

He subsequently met an ancient Roman legion in 64 AD and ended up as a gladiator. (NOTVALID: Dr. Who and the Daleks, Dr Who and the House on Oldark Moor)

They later travelled to Oldark Moor and met Count Tarkin. (NOTVALID: Dr Who and the House on Oldark Moor)

Barbara later stopped seeing Ian, (NOTVALID: Doctor Who 3 - The Third Motion Picture) who was absent from the timeship when Dr. Who and Susan travelled to Mars (NOTVALID: Daleks Versus the Martians) and to a future Earth invaded by the Daleks. (NOTVALID: Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.)

According to one account, Dr. Who, Susan and Barbara's adventures came to an end when Susan realised that she and the others were only fictional constructs created by the Scriptwriter, and managed to reach out and pierce the Scriptwriter through the heart with a stake while the Scriptwriter was scripting a third Dr. Who movie. In this unfinished script, Ian's character had devolved into a literal circus clown. (NOTVALID: Doctor Who 3 - The Third Motion Picture)

Personality

Ian was clumsy and somewhat foolish, and he had a great reluctance to travel - the moment they arrived on Skaro, Ian wanted to go home. Susan had a low opinion of him. (NOTVALID: Dr. Who and the Daleks)
