Rick McBride was a 20th century human.
He, his mother Sandra and some Mods and Rockers were transported by a Maker from 1965 Earth to an asteroid in the late 30th century. Sandra told people Ricky was her younger brother, not her son. When he grew up, he became the leader of the Mods.
By 3012, the Makers realised taking the people from Earth was a mistake. They offered to let the people remain in the 31st century, or get sent back to their original time which would undo everything that had happened to that individual. This would cause them to have no memory of the prior 19 years.
Rick did not want to lose everything he had gained and tried to kill the Makers. They attempted to communicate with him, which unintentionally broke his mind. Sandra chose to stay so she could take care of him, and retain all the things she had experienced. (PROSE: The Space Age)
