"Listen to that! It's the sound of a planet screaming out its rage!"
Professor Stahlman's drilling project is going to crack open the Earth's crust and release a gas that will provide the planet with a new source of power. At least that's the plan. When the drill unearths a mysterious green slime that transforms them around it into snarling primitive monsters, it's clear something has gone wrong — but Stahlman keeps on drilling! As people start to die and UNIT loses control, all eyes turn to the Doctor. But the Time Lord is trapped in a parallel universe where freedom is an illusion and the end of the world is just around the corner...
