Paradise Five, also called End of Term, was an unproduced story written by P.J. Hammond that was intended to be the third story of Season 23 of Doctor Who.
Synopsis
The Sixth Doctor and Mel investigate the holiday haven planet Paradise 5, built on a long-dead world. Apart from being a front for illegal money-making schemes, the Doctor discovers the planet is being threatened by ghost-like entities called Angels.
Production
When stories by Jack Trevor Story and David Halliwell fell through, prolific TV writer P.J. Hammond was commissioned to write a story to replace them. Script editor Eric Saward liked the story, but producer John Nathan-Turner did not. Nathan-Turner instructed Saward to reject the scripts, and the story was replaced by Terror of the Vervoids. The story was later adapted by Andy Lane as part of Big Finish's The Lost Stories range. Retitled Paradise 5, it featured Peri instead of Mel.
