Professor George Philips was a scientist who worked at a British radio telescope.
The Master took control of him as part of his scheme to bring the Nestenes to Earth. He later ordered Philips to kill the Third Doctor (TV: Terror of the Autons) with a Sontaran fragmentation grenade, (PROSE Doctor Who and the Terror of the Autons) but he broke free of the Master's control and took the brunt of the explosion himself, saving the Doctor's life at the cost of his own.
