The Compère was the host at the Eclectica club. They were intrigued by Bernice Summerfield. They told Benny and the Unbound Doctor about the fact that Berlin was the black sheep of Germany. They explained to the Doctor about the callousness of Germany, including sending money to the father who despised them. They went with the Doctor to find Wulf and Benny. They actually went to the conversion tunnel to attract the attention of the Cybermen's victims. They confused the Cybermen but they were only there to distract the Cybermen to allow the Doctor to intrude on the Cybermen's base. (AUDIO: Willkommen)

They were eventually partially Cyber-converted but still ran the Eclectica, with Cyberman waiters, though their personality and emotions remained. They were used by the Cybermen to try and convince the Doctor to capitulate by holding the other people in the club hostage. The Cybermen didn't fully convert them as during their life they were non-binary, and toyed with them being neither human nor Cyberman. They paraded people infront of the Doctor to convince him to give in to the Cybermen. They told the Doctor that the Cybermen chose this era to stop the wasted life during the way. Finally, the Compère paraded Benny in front of him as a final resort to get him to change him mind. They survived when the Doctor used the conversion nanites to destroy the Cybertechnology. (AUDIO: Auf Wiedersehen)
