Hywel Bennett (8 April 1944-25 July 2017[1]) played Rynian in the Doctor Who television story The Chase.
He was subsequently considered for the role of Merdeen in The Mysterious Planet. (TCH 42)

He is perhaps most famous for lead roles in shows such as Shelley and Neverwhere and a guest appearance on Last of the Summer Wine. He also had a short stint on EastEnders as the villain Jack Dalton.
