* The story is set in the three weeks [[Third Doctor|the Doctor]] is returning from [[Metebelis III]] during the television story ''[[Planet of the Spiders (TV story)|Planet of the Spiders]]''.
* The story was first planned in the late 1980s. Franklin told ''[[Myth Makers]]'' in 1989 that [[Target Books]] was going to publish it "but unfortunately they've discontinued the series" (likely meaning ''[[The Companions of Doctor Who]]''). He had plans to produce a self-published version that didn't happen. In 2000, he performed a badly reviewed version of it as a one-man show at the Edinburgh Fringe.
