Mike Yates has left UNIT and tries to acclimatise to life in the slow lane. But, as he soon finds out, your past is only a second behind you...
In a meditation centre deep in the Chiltern Hills, Mike Yates is in a contemplative mood. His years of faithful service to the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce have come to an abrupt end, and he is having to take his leave of the people he has come to think of as family.
When the Brigadier suggests that his former Captain take a holiday in Morocco, Mike finds himself embroiled in an exciting battle with an old enemy that could mean the end for UNIT, the Doctor and the world...

- The story is set in the three weeks the Doctor is returning from Metebelis III during the television story Planet of the Spiders.
- The story was first planned in the late 1980s. Franklin told Myth Makers in 1989 that Target Books was going to publish it "but unfortunately they've discontinued the series" (likely meaning The Companions of Doctor Who). He had plans to produce a self-published version that didn't happen. In 2000, he performed a badly reviewed version of it as a one-man show at the Edinburgh Fringe. The story was later released as an abridged audio story by BBV Productions in 2002, after being turned down by Big Finish.[1]
- The appearance of DWU characters was unlicensed and so the BBV audio is not considered a valid source for writing on this wiki. It was remade into a novel, Operation: Hate, with no mention of the Doctor Who universe and Yates renamed as Captain M. Franklin explained in one interview that the BBC had got stricter on copyright since 2000.[1]
