Richard Martin (born 3 January 1935[1] as Richard Martin Thomas) directed several of the earliest Doctor Who television stories. His work included three episodes of the very first Dalek story, and all the episodes of the next two Dalek stories.
He also shared his memories of his Doctor Who career on the 80th and 105th editions of Big Finish's charity podcast series Toby Hadoke's Who's Round, as well as several documentaries released on DVD and Blu-ray.
One of his few regrets about his work during his time on the show, beyond budgetary constraints, was his decision to lay Dalek signage on the Cenotaph during location filming for The Dalek Invasion of Earth.[2]
Career
Richard began his career as an actor. Outside of Doctor Who, other notable directorial credits include episodes of All Creatures Great and Small and Crown Court.
