Paradise Found was the first comic story of the Paradise Towers comic series. It was a spin-off of Doctor Who making use of Stephen Wyatt's individual license to the titular location, as well as the Kangs from Paradise Towers.
Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
Years have passed since Kroagnon, the great architect, returned to wipe out the inhabitants of Paradise Towers. The inhabitants now prosper under the leadership of the magnaminous reign of General Favalan and her soldiers. The residents want for nothing. They fear nothing. After all, in paradise, what is there to fear?
The residents have been told that Paradise Promises Possibility. For Viv-2, a young Kang with a restless heart, Paradise Towers offers everything but adventure. She yearns to find some trouble to get into, but maybe trouble is looking for her as well...
Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]
Build High For Happiness[[edit] | [edit source]]
In the past the Leaders tasked Great Architect Kroagnon to build a new world, Paradise Towers, which would be home to the "Olders" (Rezzies) and "Youngers" (Kangs) while the "Inbetweens" went off to war. However, Kroagnon did not want to share his world with the unworthy and so the Olders "unalived" him. He managed to return through unclear means and began using the Towers' robot Cleaners to kill the residents. A traveller and his friend arrived and helped the residents, and an Inbetween known as Pex sacrificed himself to save them allowing them to start again and rebuild in peace.
Years later Viv-2 found her life at Paradise Towers to be boring and mundane, and did not share the respect that her mothers Bin Liner and Fire Escape had for Pex. She formed herself a group of friends that shared her passions who she called the "true Kangs", including Can Opener, Dish Washer, Rat Poison and Bubble Wrap, but often found herself in trouble with the authority Caretakers and General Favalan especially when she interrupted a parade float when chasing a mysterious figure with the appearance of Pex himself. When Viv-2 learned that Bubble Wrap had gone missing, having previously hinted at having something to share with the group, she thought that it was "brilliant" to have some excitement for a change. After her concerns were snubbed by the Caretakers and Rezzies, Viv-2 and Can Opener underwent their own investigations. Can Opener managed to locate Bubble Wrap only to witness her disappear into thin air, while Viv-2 followed a voice in her head and discovered two murdered Caretakers with the words "Pex Lives" written on the wall in their blood.
Ghosts in the Machine[[edit] | [edit source]]
Viv-2 and Can Opener reunited and shared their discoveries before being located by several Caretakers. Lieutenant Lamba accused the pair of murder and ordered their arrest, however, Pex arrived and managed to save Viv-2. Can Opener was taken before Favalan who attempted to sow seeds of doubt in her against Viv-2. Favalan also admitted that she was aware of Pex's return but claimed that evil was wearing a friendly face. When Viv-2 finally caught up with her friends again they had turned against her, as had a freshly returned Bubble Wrap, and she correctly concluded that something had been done with them. Meeting up with Pex once again, he agreed to show her the truth and woke her from a trance where she found herself hooked to several machines.
Unhooking herself from the machines, Viv-2 attempted to escape from several soldiers who made clear their interest in eating her. She was saved by a Cleaner robot which fought off the attacking soldiers and reunited with Pex who took her to his secret lair. Pex revealed that the current version of Paradise Towers was a virtual reality operated by Favalan and that he had woken Viv-2 up in the real world.
