Archibald Christie

Colonel Archibald Christie (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac) was the first husband of Agatha Christie. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp)

The couple married at the start of World War I and they had a daughter. (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac)

Agatha Christie's husband Archibald began having an affair with another woman who Agatha described as being younger and prettier. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp) He confessed his affair to Agatha in August 1926. (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac) This broke her heart, but social attitudes at the time demanded her to "carry on". (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp) Agatha was opposed to divorce and refused to annul their marriage. (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac)

One Friday (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac) in December, (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp) Archibald left their Berkshire home to spend the weekend with his mistress, (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac) following an exchange of words. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp) That weekend, Agatha officially disappeared. (PROSE: The Time Travellers' Almanac)

Archibald was interviewed by Surrey Constabulary, along with the rest of Agatha's family and friends regarding the disappearance. She would not be seen again until she surfaced in Harrogate over eleven days later.

Agatha later married again to a second husband. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp)
