Security Code, known once as UNIT Code, was a sub-feature published in the Doctor Who Weekly UNIT Hotline feature. Doctor Who Weekly issues 26 and 27 featured instructions on how to "join UNIT" by sending in a coupon to a specific address. Those who followed instructions were sent a UNIT ID and a UNIT Codebook. In following issues of UNIT Hotline, starting in issue 29, coded messages would be published marked either Security Code Red or Security Code Green. The Codebook could be used to decipher the message from UNIT HQ.
