He came to the conclusion that River was onboard his ship when he discovered one of his guards with haluconagenic lipstick on his cheek. When he ecountered River, Alistair had intended to have his guards kill River and make it look like she was trying to escape, but she had delayed him long enough for the door to open into space and her to be rescued. So, when River escaped from the [[Byzantium (ship)|Byzantium]] to land in the TARDIS, the air pressure forced Alistair to hold onto a nearby pipe so that he did not fall out into space. The Byzantium later crashed, killing everybody on board, except for the lone [[Weeping Angel]], which was held in the bottom of the ship.

Alistair was an acquaintance of Doctor River Song, with whom he had danced. He realised River was on board his ship, the Byzantium, when he discovered one of his guards with hallucinogenic lipstick on his face. When he encountered River, Alistair intended to have his guards kill her and make it look like she was trying to escape, but she delayed by predicting that the ship would not arrive at its destination. This allowed an airlock door to open into space, expelling her to be rescued by the Eleventh Doctor in the TARDIS. The pressure of the ship's air evacuating into space forced Alistair and the two guards to hold onto nearby pipes.

The Byzantium afterwards crashed on Alfava Metraxis due to sabotage by the Angel on board, apparently leaving no survivors. (TV: The Time of Angels)
