Original Sin was the tenth story in Big Finish Productions' Novel Adaptations range. It was adapted from the novel of the same name by John Dorney and featured Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, Lisa Bowerman as Bernice Summerfield, Travis Oliver as Chris Cwej and Yasmin Bannerman as Roz Forrester.

Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

A warning from a dying alien leads the Doctor and Bernice to Earth. However Earth in this time period is not a good place to be.

The murder rate is rising, but the killers seem to be acting without motive. The TARDIS crew's investigations lead them to a military training planet, a prison inside a star, and a terrifying old foe.

And all the time they are being pursued - by two dogged Adjudicators who've stumbled onto a terrifying conspiracy. Chris Cwej and Roz Forrester.

Things will never be the same again.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Despite Yasmin Bannerman and Travis Oliver appearing as their characters for the first time in AUDIO: Damaged Goods, this is the first chronological appearance of their characters.
  • Originally, John Dorney thought the story might have to be told over six episodes before specific elements were trimmed down. (BFX: Original Sin)

Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]

Deviations from the original novel[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Likely due to copyright issues, the behind-the-scenes villain of the original novel is never explicitly identified by name in the audio, although the dialogue between him and the Doctor makes it clear that he is still intended to be Tobias Vaughn. Although not stating in which story, Nicholas Briggs mentioned his voice performance of Tobias Vaughn. (BFX: The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume Two)
  • The Imperial Landsknechte is instead referred to as the Imperial Marines, although Benny did compare them to marines in the original novel.
  • As with Damaged Goods before it, some of the more adult themes and elements from the original novel were toned down for the adaptation. (BFX: Original Sin)
