Out of the Shadows was an anthology published by Arcbeatle Press. It was produced in a publishing partnership with BBV Productions, and followed a new P.R.O.B.E. team.
The anthology also featured characters and concepts from the Virgin New Adventures, the Past Doctor Adventures, the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures and the Erimem series.
Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
Welcome to the Preternatural Research Bureau, also known as P.R.O.B.E. For decades P.R.O.B.E. has defended Earth from the strange, the paranormal, and the alien. Hidden away from the eyes of the public.
Times have changed.
A threat looms in the dark, intent on utilising perihelion to further its goals. With budget cuts shuttering other organisations tailored to combat alien threats, P.R.O.B.E. alone must step out of the shadows to defend the very existence of humanity.
But how will they cope? With the team struggling to get along, tensions fray. And for Azacca Dixon, P.R.O.B E.'s newest member, things will never be the same again.
Darkness is waiting.
Perihelion is coming.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The novelisation of Cyberon by James Hornby acted as a companion release to Out of the Shadows and the revival of P.R.O.B.E. in general, with the final act of the story picking up the loose threads from the end of the original film and bringing in familiar characters from P.R.O.B.E.. Also, Silver-Tongued Liars by James Wylder, another story in the anthology, featured Brittany Mordley and Giles, the former going onto reappear in the short story Nowhere Women, and A Worthy Successor also featured Archie, whose death marked a focal point for Giled's character. However, partly due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two releases were published over a year apart from each other.
- The illustration released with the announcement for the anthology was drawn by Callum Brown and Stuart Brown.
- Although the "About the contributors" section of Cyberon stated that Tyche McPhee Letts would have "longer pieces" in Down the Middle and Out of the Shadows, the latter did not come to pass.
