The Irish Sea was a body of water that separated Ireland from Great Britain.
In 1826, the Camara returned to England through the Irish Sea. Before reaching land, the crew dumped an Ogri off of the ship. The Ogri became stuck at the bottom of the sea and was gradually eroded by the water. It eventually became a pile of sand. In 1991, it murdered several people at beaches along the English coast until it was defeated in Blackpool by the Seventh Doctor. (COMIC: Seaside Rendezvous)
Cumbria was located on the Irish Sea. (PROSE: Invasion of the Cat-People)
Behind the scenes[[edit]]
Torchwood website[[edit]]
The series 1 version of the Torchwood website contained a couple of articles covering the disappearance of the Sky Gypsy over the Irish Sea.
Frantic sea search for missing air ace[[edit]]
A newspaper article titled "Frantic sea search for missing air ace" reported the search for Diane Holmes after she went missing over the Irish Sea. Diane Holmes was being urgently sought by the Coastguard. Conditions were described as normal at the time of the plane's last sighting.[1]
Sea search for Diane Holmes called off[[edit]]
According to a further article - "Sea search for Diane Holmes called off" from 24 December 1953, the search was later abandoned. The article stated that no trace of the plane had been found; the aircraft had been travelling from Bristol to Dublin when it went missing of 18 December 1953.[2]
