Moths were Earth lepodopterids. Oscar Botcherby collected them. He used a lamp to attract them before employing cyanide to kill them. He sought rare and beautiful types of moths and told his friend Anita to look after his collection as his dying words. (DW: The Two Doctors)

The solar yacht Tiger Moth was named after a type of moth. (RP: Shakedown: Return of the Sontarans, NA: Shakedown)

K9 once encountered moths on an unnamed planet in another dimension, partially inhabited by ex-Tellac miners. They lived alongside other Earth animals from widely varying periods of evolutionary history. Unlike most species of moth on modern Earth, however, these had a wingspan of about ten feet, as many extinct species did on Earth in the prehistoric past. (AK9: K9 and the Missing Planet)
