Ringway was a crew member on a massive space freighter in the middle of space.
He seemed to harbor a strong dislike for Captain Briggs because she ignored him. When everyone found out that he was working with the Cybermen, he held Captain Briggs, Berger, Adric and the Doctor hostage.
When Scott and his troops moved in & mananged to kill a few of the attacking Cybermen, the Cyber Leader believed that Ringway had lied to them & desided to kill him for his desete.
