Top Trumps is the official brand name of a popular Trumps card game currently made by Winning Moves. Six packs have been made featuring characters from Doctor Who. Two Trumps game packs made by other companies have also been released.
Top Trumps sets
New Series
Each of the New Series packs are thirty card sets with the five stats: Height, Intelligence, Monster Rating, Darkness, and Courage.
- Pack one from 2006 had characters from Series 1 and Series 2 up to The Age of Steel. It was a thirty card set with five attributes, like all New Series packs that came after. An Abzorbaloff Super Top Trump card was also available.
- Pack two from 2007 contained characters from the rest of Series 2 and Series 3 up to Evolution of the Daleks. Dalek Sec (not the hybrid), Mother Bloodtide and a new Abzorbaloff Super Top Trump cards were also included.
- Pack three from 2008 had characters from the rest of Series 3 and all of Series 4. A Professor River Song Super Top Trump card was also included.
- Pack four features characters from the end of the Tenth Doctor's series and the beginning of the Eleventh Doctor's first series. A Lone Centurion card was made for this.
- Pack five features characters from the beginning of Series 5 to mid-way through Series 6.
There has also been a Top Trumps Adventures video game made for various platforms and several Top Trumps Books releases about Doctor Who.
Classic Doctor Who
- Doctor Who: 45 Years of Time Travel from 2008 was a collector's edition which focused on the original show. It was a thirty card pack in a TARDIS shaped box with the six stats: Adventures, Global Threat, Brains, Style, Strength, and Fear Factor. A Davros Super Top Trump card was also included which was available with tickets to the Earls Court Doctor Who exhibition.
Other Trumps sets
Two Trumps games precede Winning Moves' Top Trump packs.
- In 1978, Jotastar made the Doctor Who Trump Card Game a forty card pack with only three stats: Mental Ability, Special Powers, and Weapons.
- The BBC website has made a number of Trump games for various series including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and EastEnders . Their classic Doctor Who set, Doctor Who Trumps, is a twenty card pack that uses four stats: Strength, Style, Intelligence, and Fear Factor. [1]
