Tech-Ops Reston was a scientist in the Kaled Military Elite who worked with his friend Tech-Ops in weapons testing. When Davros accepted a role in a mission to destroy a new Thal weapon research facility, he recommended that Reston join them, partly due to his expertise and previous combat experience, but also because Davros trusted him. While returning home after the mission, Reston was badly wounded by the Kaled Dome's automatic defence system's weapons fire.
