Professor Parry was an archaeologist who led an expedition to Telos in search of the tombs of the Telosian Cybermen. He helped the Second Doctor defeat the Cybermen.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Parry had some trouble dealing with Eric Klieg and Kaftan, who had financed his expedition. He often had to remind them that he was in charge of the expedition.
After Peter Haydon was killed in the weapons testing room, Parry reluctantly decided to cancel the expedition. However, the damage done to Captain Hopper's rocket-ship forced the expedition to remain at the tombs while repairs were made, so he allowed further exploration to be made in the meantime.
It was only when Klieg killed John Viner that Parry realised that Klieg was dangerous. He helped the Doctor seal the Cybermen back in their tombs and left the planet when Hopper's ship was repaired. (TV: The Tomb of the Cybermen)
Shortly after leaving Telos, Parry encountered the Fifth Doctor, Tegan Jovanka and Nyssa where he didn't believe this version of the Doctor was the same one he encountered on Telos. The rocket was hijacked by Cybermats and crash-landed on Telos Minor where they uncovered a secret Cyber-Factory that had been activated by his rival, Professor Vansom. Rather than travel home in the TARDIS, Parry and engineer Morton opted to construct a transmitter from the rocket's remains and signal Earth. (AUDIO: Secrets of Telos)
He recorded his experiences in his memoirs. (PROSE: The Secret Lives of Monsters)
Parry's survey notes from the Telos expedition were acquired by the Braxiatel Collection and kept in its archaeological archives. (PROSE: Theatre of War)
