Manyak was chief controller aboard the Ark in the 57th Segment of Time.
When the First Doctor and his companions were put on trial for bringing the common cold to the ship, Manyak volunteered to speak for them. When the verdict was expulsion from the ship, Manyak suggested the Doctor be allowed to find a cure for the disease. (TV: The Ark)
