The '''energy weapon''' was a mounted [[alien]] item of heavy artillery used to cause mass destruction with a single shot.  In [[2007]] during the [[Sycorax]]'s appearance over [[London]] on [[Christmas]] day, the [[Torchwood Institute]] utilising the energy weapon from the [[Jathaa sunglider]] shot down the Sycorax's craft under the orders of [[Harriet Jones]]. ([[DW]]: ''[[The Christmas Invasion]]'') The shots were fired in four parts before meeting to form one huge blast.  After the battle of Chanary Wharf, the weapon was presumably scavenged and built onto the airship carrier [[Valiant]].  [[UNIT]] used it to blow up part of the Atmos factory during the [[Sontaran]] invasion of [[Earth]] in [[2009]].  It is as yet unknown if the weapon was added after the fall of [[the Master]] or if [[Harry Saxon]] himself incorporated it into the design.  The weapon was most likely lost when the [[Dalek]]s attacked and destroyed the Valiant during the war in the [[Medusa Cascade]].

Energy weapons were any device that intended to use directed energy in a destructive manner.

Anti-personnel energy weapons[[edit] | [edit source]]

An energy weapon could be a handheld weapon that fired energy rather than a projectile of some sort.

Dalek gunstick energy weapons were part of their casings, (TV: Genesis of the Daleks) though these weapons could be removed from the Daleks. (TV: The Witch's Familiar, Twice Upon a Time)

Sontaran soldiers typically carried some form of blaster. (TV: The Time Warrior)

The Moroks, (TV: The Space Museum) the Cat-People, (PROSE: Invasion of the Cat-People) and the Scorchies used ray guns themselves. (AUDIO: The Scorchies) The Monstrons armed their Engibrain soldiers with ray guns. (COMIC: The Menace of the Monstrons)

Some merely referred to themselves (or others as possessing "ray guns") as the Daleks did in reference to their own gunsticks (TV: The Daleks' Master Plan) and Jamie McCrimmon and the Second Doctor did when describing the Chameleons' weaponry. (TV: The Faceless Ones)
