Gordon James Lethbridge-Stewart was the son of Gordon Conall Lethbridge-Stewart and Mary Gore and elder brother of Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. He was born April 2 1926 and named after his maternal grandfather, James Gore.
He was the nominal leader of the Bledoe Cadets, a gang of similar aged kids in Bledoe, which consisted of Henry Barns, Raymond Phillips, Jemima Flemming and others.
