The Swarm is a type of space-borne organism which had hanged dormant in a cloud-like area of space near Saturn for millenia, until in 5000 it was finally picked up by the crew of a Titan Shuttle. It infected the relief crew for the Titan Base, and trough them eventually most of the Bi-Al Foundation

Swarm may refer to:

The Swarm worked like a disease, spreading by electrical pulses, which should make contact with the victim's eyes. This would turn victims into agents of the swarm, answering to a nucleus, a microscopic and virus-like sentient organism that controlled the swarm. Visually, an infected lifeform could be recognised by their growing of grey filaments around their eyes and hands.
Individuals
* Swarm, the Ravager, brother to Azure, servant of Time and enemy to the Fugitive and Thirteenth Doctors. (TV: The Halloween Apocalypse, etc.)
* The Swarm, an intelligent virus faced by the Fourth Doctor. (TV: The Invisible Enemy)

There is no physical matter for the virus, which exists in a state in the mind/brain interface (though the nucleus has a crustacean-like form). This means the swarm can affect non-living sentients like robots and can have less of an effect on instinct-based individuals.
Groups
* A species of alien "Stingrays", collectively referred to as "the Swarm". (TV: Planet of the Dead)
* A mysterious swarm of creatures who existed in the Time Vortex. (PROSE: Something at the Door-)
* "The Swarm" formed by the Hornets fought on multiple occasions by the Fourth Doctor. (AUDIO: The Stuff of Nightmares, etc.)

Certain people (such as Leela) have certain antibodies that can defeat the virus. As well, the virus can be slowed simply by not thinking.
Concepts
Another race of stingray like creatures are refered to as the Swarm. They possibly have a real name, but it is yet unknown as the episode of their origins is still TBB. Also, they could not be called the Swarm, but infact something else. The Tritivores appearing in that episode may be called the Swarm and the stingray monsters something else.
* Swarm (formation), the general concept of a disorderly swarm of beings.
