Professor Yuri Stepashin was a Soviet scientist specialising in atom and radiation research. In October 1938, he was kidnapped by Don Chaney's gang to help them work out the nature of the Laiderplacker weapons that they found. Glory Bee was looking for him on behalf of the Soviet Union. He sacrificed his life to destroy the Laiderplacker, using humanity's first working atomic bomb, developed by himself. (AUDIO: Invaders from Mars)
