Rename suggestion[[edit source]]

What "transcript"? There's no official BBC transcript. Are you perhaps referring to the iPlayer subtitles?

Nope, and I think I actually may have been too fast on that one. I took it from this: http://transcripts.foreverdreaming.org/viewtopic.php?f=763&t=29228, but that's not valid, I think. What does the iPlayer subtitles say? --DCLM 20:40, October 23, 2016 (UTC)
Should the template be removed then, or what is the conclusion? --DCLM 16:39, October 24, 2016 (UTC)
You are free to remove it, because of the basis, but it may well be right. I have no idea what iPlayer subtitles say, because I am not British. It sounded like "arn" to me, and I did replay the moment a few times to make my best guess.

Oh ok. I just thought that only staff were allowed to remove them.
Yeah, but you know... words can still be pronounced the same way, even though they're spelled differently. --DCLM 20:15, October 24, 2016 (UTC)
I removed the template, until further evidence. It sounded like arn in her English accent, but, again, I may be mistaken. And now we wait for someone with iPlayer access to clear this all up.

I have an independent question: shouldn't this Arn be dabbed given another one, Arn (Beneath the Skin)? Amorkuz 21:55, October 31, 2016 (UTC)
BBC Subtitles call it an ahn. --90.197.233.150talk to me 17:48, November 7, 2016 (UTC)
Seems like I was right about that then. --DCLM 17:50, November 7, 2016 (UTC)
Can someone please confirm that spelling? I personally have it spelled "arn" on my iTunes subtitles, so under no circumstances should that not at least be a redirect.
And Arn (Beneath the Skin) is an individual, so it's not strictly necessary. I remember answering this question before. (species) is typically for sentient species. If somebody was named Bear (Whatever Story), bear wouldn't need a dab term.

Still waiting for someone to confirm the spelling. --DCLM 06:48, November 11, 2016 (UTC)

FWIW, the BBC website spells it "Arn". Shambala108 21:18, November 27, 2016 (UTC)

For now, this page has been moved to Arn (species). If it's ever confirmed that "Ahn" is correct, we can revisit, but for now, Arn also is used on two other pages and countless non-linked occurrences on other pages. Changing it to "Ahn" would need some pretty definitive proof to justify the work involved in renaming. Shambala108 23:34, September 6, 2019 (UTC)

I understand this might fall foul of the notion of self-referenced sourcing/original research, but I can make it known and noted here that Arn is the correct spelling as per the script for Episode One. I can make this page available if need be, as evidence. JDPManjoume 02:06, August 23, 2020 (UTC)
