Jask as a Companion[[edit source]]

Based on my listening to The Sontaran Ordeal, it is my opinion that because of Jask's involvement in stopping the Sontarans and , while starting off as a villain, becoming loyal to the Doctor, even putting his own life at risk to save the Doctor and Saranna, this makes him a companion. Feel free to argue with me on this point. ?Mr Badger Lol? 23:23, December 21, 2016 (UTC)

Well, Jask has constantly refused to call the Eighth Doctor and Sarana "allies", and the Doctor did not fully trust him through the story (as a matter of fact, neither did Sarana). He only began trusting Jask when he realised Stipe and Stenk were a somewhat "common enemies". But, as soon as the Doctor "served his purposes", Jask betrayed him.
The only reason Jask kept working with the Doctor and Sarana was so he could expose Stipe and Stenk orders, which let to unecessary (on his point of view, unhonoured) Sontaran deaths. He did not do what he did to help the Doctor. He seeked to help himself, and himself only. This is made even clearer with the fact that he tells Sarana that the Doctor is a Time Lord, knowing she wouldn't fully trust (and like) the Doctor anymore. Also, where in Big Finish's site is it stated that Jask is a companion? I couldn't find it anywhere. OncomingStorm12th 00:22, December 22, 2016 (UTC)
I can't find anything of the sort either.

Have not heard this one myself, but the description above does not give me a sense that Jask should be considered an Eighth Doctor companion.

From what I can remember, Jask didn't betray the Doctor. He locked him and Saranna in the furnace to keep up the subterfuge. He and the Doctor had planned that, so the TARDIS could materialise around the Doctor and Saranna at the same time. Jask wanted to keep up appearances so the other Sontarans wouldn't turn on him, and so he could give his testimony. If anything, it was Saranna who betrayed the Doctor in the end. ?Mr Badger Lol? 18:00, December 22, 2016 (UTC)
I was listening to the story again while writing this. Sarana did not betray the Doctor. All she did was grow a bit of prejudice towards the Doctor because he was a Time Lord (similar to what Cass did). At no moment Jask bothered to check if the Doctor and Sarana were even alive after sent them to the furnace. They had already done what they could to discredit Stipe and Stenk. Jask had no more reasons to care about the Doctor, and that's what he did: he simply stopped caring about him. OncomingStorm12th 20:16, December 22, 2016 (UTC)
Well put. I concede. ?Mr Badger Lol? 21:22, December 22, 2016 (UTC)
So where are we now?

I've removed Jask from the Companion(s) section. ?Mr Badger Lol? 22:24, December 22, 2016 (UTC)
