Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

Main rangeedit source

Hi, thank you for taking care of the new audio series parameters for the main range. I just wanted to let you know that its application to other ranges is not yet finalised. I will let you know when it is safe to continue if you have a desire to. Amorkuz 05:50, December 19, 2017 (UTC)

Not a problem, glad I could help. Oh yes, do let me know if I can do my bit. All the best.
Toy Story Fan 06:43, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
I'm serious. Please wait with the changes. The names of variables are not finalised yet. What you saw was a test. I'm sorry to say but at the moment you're creating double work, whereas several days later it would have been pure gold. Amorkuz 23:16, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
Oh, I do apologise. Toy Story Fan 05:48, December 20, 2017 (UTC)
No worries. I’m happy to let you know that your edits on the Main Range were successfully converted to the new format. The field names in the infobox are now stable. You can explore various New Series and Torchwood audio stories for examples of usage. The anthology and series names, however, are a bit under revamping at the time (see my post at Tales from the Tardis). However, things like Gallifrey (audio series) that require a dab term anyways will definitely not change. So at this point feel free to implement the new scheme if that is what you desire. My only request is to be consistent within each range. That way, if we decide to change something, it will be easy to do by a bot. But, needless to say, don’t feel obliged. Only do things you enjoy doing. Amorkuz 12:58, December 30, 2017 (UTC)

Moving pagesedit source

Hi. Non-admins are not allowed to move pages. Only admins can do that. We, the regular users, need to put a template requesting a move and the reason why. --DCLM 22:38, March 13, 2020 (UTC)

Ah, I'll do that, in future. My mistake. Toy Story Fan 22:47, March 13, 2020 (UTC)
It's fine. I'll recommend reading some of the policies of the Wikia. :) --DCLM 22:49, March 13, 2020 (UTC)

Author page work listsedit source

Just a heads' up from an editor to another: I love the work you've been doing with short stories from The Brilliant Book and such, but don't forget to add them to appearance lists (i.e. River Song - list of appearances) and to the "list of works" section of author pages (i.e. James Goss#Short fiction). --Scrooge MacDuck 16:17, March 15, 2020 (UTC)

Jumping in here. The above comment is a request, not a requirement. There are a lot of things that need to be done when a new page is created, and it's not the sole responsibility of the person who created the page. So do it if you want, but if you don't, someone else can and will do it. Shambala108 16:31, March 15, 2020 (UTC)
I try to where I can, I've put a few in like the Valeyard's, and Vastra's, etc, but considering how large this project is, I can't always get to it right this second. Thankyou for the message. =) Toy Story Fan 16:38, March 15, 2020 (UTC)
Oh yeah yeah, sorry if I wasn't clear. It's just a tip coming from a place of personal experience that it's something that it is good to do for the good of a page and of the Wiki at large and that I tend to forget myself (or did until recently), so I was suggesting it as a good habit to get into. --Scrooge MacDuck 16:45, March 15, 2020 (UTC)

Check onedit source

Hello, User:ToyStoryFan123. I just wanted to stop by and check how you were doing in these trying times of self-isolation?BananaClownMan 09:52, April 16, 2020 (UTC)

How very thoughtful of you to ask! I'm doing as well as I can be, thankyou. Passing the time by reading through the VNA novels - currently on Timewyrm Book 4. I hope you're doing well, too. Toy Story Fan 10:04, April 16, 2020 (UTC)

Doctor Who annualsedit source

Hey there! You've taken a particular interest in the Doctor Who annuals, and seem to have gotten started on a large project off them. As I'm sure you know, these publications contained both fiction ("stories" and "strip stories") and non-fiction (puzzles and features). Some of the pages you've written up as short stories would seem to be features, which are usually marked as non-fiction and placed in the category:Doctor Who Annual non-fiction category (rather than any story categories).

I haven't looked through all of them, but to take the most recent example, Pioneers of Flight, this seems to be an account of real world history, written up in short paragraphs as a list of facts. Men Who Made History, similarly, is a purely historical account of the accomplishments of Galileo and Yuri Gagarin, with no Doctor Who universe elements, indeed without involving fiction of any kind. This is best covered in the same way as the feature that comes right before it, The Phoenix in the TARDIS.

The category Doctor Who Annual non-fiction was created in 2010, but no one's really taken an interest in populating it, beyond that particular Phoenix feature.

Separating the stories out from the features again will mean that a number of these new pages will have to be renamed, to drop the disambiguation terms, and reworked into a slightly different format. Information on in-universe pages will have to be moved to the pages for the articles themselves, or, if particularly relevant, to "Behind the scenes".

(Of course, this can all can be contested in the forums, but note the four little rules of Tardis:Valid sources require valid sources to be stories, and for them to be intended to be set within the DWU. I'm not convinced so far by what I've seen of the annuals' features. The Phoenix in the TARDIS is our only precedent, and thus the way to go.)

I think it's rather a good thing all that work can be salvaged in a different form, as that's not always the case with these things. Wish I'd caught this sooner, but all is not lost. Keep up the good work! :)

Timeline discussionsedit source

Hi, since theory talk pages don't provide any form of notification, I just thought I'd like to invite you to take part in the various (slowly progressing) timeline discussions taking place at the moment. We started at Theory talk:Timeline - Second Doctor, and we've since started several more wide-reaching discussions at Theory talk:Timey-wimey detector, and then the discussion at Theory talk:Timeline - Seventh Doctor. If you're not interested, that's fine, Just letting you know in case you are. Danochy 04:10, June 9, 2020 (UTC)

Page movesedit source

Hi please stop moving pages. Per Thread:128198 only admins are permitted to move pages on this wiki. Even if you make a mistake creating a page, just put a rename tag on it thanks Shambala108 21:48, September 26, 2020 (UTC)

Deleted pagesedit source

If you disagree with a page deletion, it wouldn't be unprecedented to make your case on Talk:<whatever the deleted page was>. – N8 (/👁️) 04:27, September 27, 2020 (UTC)

Merry Christmasedit source

Hello, there. I just wanted to stop by and wish you the merriest of Christmases, and a Happy New Year. BananaClownMan 14:01, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Rassilon aliasesedit source

Hey, I've noticed that a little under a year ago, you added the aliases "Azalon", "Razlon" and "Ra" to the infobox of Rassilon — but I can't find any other mention of these names on the page or elsewhere on the Wiki. What is your source for them? Scrooge MacDuck 23:11, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

If I recall rightly, this was stated in either Neverland or Zagreus. It's been a while since I've listened to either, but I do vividly recall Romana talking about how various cultures have different names for Rassilon. Toy Story Fan 15:09, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

For(u)m Letteredit source

Hey there, I hope your Halloween was decent. As you might know, we've not had forums for over two years at this point. A few of the regular editors have been having a discussion on this topic at Forum talk:Index and we'd like the input of other prominent editors if you have the inclination. Cheers. Seasons Greetingsedit source

Merry Christmas, User:ToyStoryFan123, and have a Happy New Year. Sincerely, BananaClownMan 11:10, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

Kerblam! cameosedit source

Hello, there, User:ToyStoryFan123.

I've been trying to clean up the timeline pages before the end of the year by placing the "Awaiting placement" sections as best I can, but I can't find any information regarding the Seventh Doctor and Ace's cameo in the Kerblam! novelisation. Since you were the editor that added that detail to the page, I wanted to ask if there is anything that might indicate when their appearance too place timeline wise? Like a mention of the colour of the Doctor's coat to differentiate Seasons 25 and 26? Are something that might imply a Wilderness Years setting? Or if it's left completely arbitrary?

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your reply. Sincerely, BananaClownMan 11:31, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
