Chronos was a planet, and the location of a temple or palace made entirely of rock and containing a temporal portal, which was used by the original population to travel into the future.
The planet was initially covered in water, but became a desert world devoid of any bodies of water, and was located light-years from a research station.
A day on the planet measured eighteen hours, and at daily intervals a wave of temporal energy washed from the temple, acting like a trawler net that flowed out then receded, dragging anything with it inside the temple. Any life on the planet's surface caught would be aged to death, and only organic matter could pass through the portal.
The Sixth Doctor and Evelyn Smythe fought the Cybermen on Chronos in 3286. (WC: Real Time, AUDIO: Real Time)
