Major Thomas Kennet was a soldier.
When the Ninth Doctor called the United Nations for a team of speleologists to help him investigate what was happening in Lannet in 2003, they instead sent a military taskforce led by Major Kennet. After some disagreement, the Major and his team helped the Doctor find and defeat the Shalka.
When the Doctor left with Alison Cheney, Kennet offered himself as an additional travelling companion, but the Doctor turned him down. (WC: Scream of the Shalka)
