To date, Catherine Williams has been the only credited make-up trainee, for Torchwood.

This is a very junior role in the make-up department, below both junior make-up assistant and junior make-up artist.[1] It can take up to two years as a make-up trainee to progress to other roles in the department.[2]

Trainees have training and some experience in the field, and may be asked to work in the crowd room on a busy day. Otherwise, they help where needed, and do much of the running work, such as loading the washing machine and preparing the teas and coffees.[2] This is an entry-level position, held by many before they can "step up" to junior positions.[1]
