The Captain was a Silurian commander sent to Casablanca around 1941 in order to bring about the end of the human race and win Earth back for Silurians.

On the surface he wore a glimmer suit to camouflage himself as a human and served as the Captain of Casablanca police. Some of his subordinates were also Silurians pretending to be humans.

Upon observing both the Nazis and the Resistance, however, he realised that Silurians are not the superior species but just a species. He was postponing the extinction-level event as much as possible and even helped a Resistance leader escape the Nazis.

He struck a friendship with the Eleventh Doctor and found Amy Pond attractive for an ape-like creature. His regard for humans was so strong that he preferred to wear his glimmer suit even when unobserved by interlopers. (COMIC: As Time Goes By)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

This character is based on and, in his human persona, repeats many of the actions of, Captain Louis Renault from the movie Casablanca, played there by Claude Rains, so much so that at the crucial moment of the comic story plot, he leaves in order to attend (off-frame) to the plot of the movie regarding Victor Laszlo, only identified in the comic story as the Resistance leader.
