Anna's Doctor Who Surprise was a segment created for the Children in Need 2018 appeal.
Main subject[[edit] | [edit source]]
9-year-old Anna Mark, who lives with cystic fibrosis, and her brother Alex are treated to a tour of the Doctor Who studio. The lucky siblings get to explore the Thirteenth Doctor's TARDIS, Anna is given her own Thirteenth Doctor costume, and they meet actors Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole, Bradley Walsh and, finally, Jodie Whittaker.
Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The Marks are watching The Woman Who Fell to Earth in their living room, when it is interrupted by a video message of Jodie Whittaker (in the Doctor's costume) offering the kids a chance to visit the studio.
- Although the webcast as a whole is more of a documentary about real events, it features a brief, winking lapse into fiction with special effects suggesting that the TARDIS actually dematerialised from outside the Marks' house and carried Anna to the BBC studios right there and then.
