An attempted invasion by the Flood forced commanding officer Captain Adelaide Brooke to trigger a nuclear self-destruct device. Brooke, along with Nurse Yuri Kerenski and geologist Mia Bennett, were rescued by the Doctor, who violated the Laws of Time in doing so, as the death of Adelaide Brooke was a fixed point in time.
