Professor Maxwell Grey was the editor and curator of Into the Unknown following the departure of Sam Ferrian. He knew Sam well, and the pair shared a passion for seeking the truth.
He was more sceptical than his predecessor, and was not content to stare open-mouthed at the mysteries of the world; he wanted to understand them and learn from them. He often quoted a friend of his: "…to the rational mind, nothing is inexplicable, only unexplained". (PROSE: About This Site)
This difference in approach led to clashes and arguments between the two of them. Grey believed Sam was too easily swayed by ghost stories and tales of paranormal happenings, while Sam found Grey intractable and hopelessly wed to the science of any situation, hostile to anything that threatened his "cosy" take on the world. Despite this, they were both friends. (PROSE: Welcome Into the Unknown…)
Following Sam's departure, Grey removed the majority of features from the site. He aimed to add more articles, though more scientific in their approach. (PROSE: About This Site) Grey expected that some would be surprised to learn he was site’s new editor, and that many would be aghast and appalled that he was the man in charge. (PROSE: Welcome Into the Unknown…)
