Genetic memory was a means for information to pass from generation to generation, subliminally. Many animals used it for migration, while humans could pass down maps and networks by means of ritual. (AUDIO: The Forth Generation)

Though the link to memories is scientifically suspect, birds have been observed following in-built maps for migration, which cannot be reduced to environmental learning — since these patterns emerge even without a flock to follow.

Hybrid birds even follow a "middle road" to both parents, directly implicating genetic influence.[1]
