In one of the infinite parallel universes of "possible space", (COMIC: Fire and Brimstone) the Doctor's TARDIS was an old Type 40 TARDIS which the Doctor stole in his eighth incarnation when he ran away from Gallifrey following his half-brother the Master's takeover of the planet. The soul of his recently-deceased grandfather Barusa also became captured within he "resonating crystals" at the heart of the TARDIS, with Barusa's ghost becoming bound to the TARDIS. (PROSE: The Chronicles of Doctor Who?)
