We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

Editing other user's user pages

Cyberman

On the series 5 page there is no source that the cyberman will be returning in the series finaleThe mysterious 10:48, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

Sontaran categories

Hi, as I noted in the edit summary the categories are already applied to the Sontaran category (meaning they don't need to be applied to the race page), much like Cybermen only has the Cybermen category because the 'enemies of the' categories are applied to the whole Cybermen category rather than the individual race article. Plots

Please don't copy plots from wikipedia. This can be considered plagerism without proper citation. As we wish for the wiki to be unique, we prefer individually writted accounts of the plot by a user of this wiki, not a wikipedia user. Thanks for understanding. Rory in The Pandorica Opens

You added Rory back to the cast and the list of companions.

Do you have any source for this? As I said on Talk:The Pandorica Opens, the only sources anyone has given are (a) pictures from The Big Bang, which only prove that Arthur Darvill is in TBB, not necessarily TPO, and (b) the fact that he will be on a panel at the BAFTA screening, which proves nothing (unless you believe that, say, Steven Moffat will also be in the episode).

If you have a source, please list it as a reference in the article, or (if you don't know how to use the ref tags--which can be a pain if you use the fancy rich-text editor) at least post it on the Talk page.

Re: Time Lady

Hey, what's your source regarding -http://tardis.wikia.com/index.php?title=The_Pandorica_Opens&oldid=381449 "Joanna Page already said she won't be in Doctor Who".

Imdb is the source on a lot of characters to appear - vo could do with a reason why her appearances on IMDB in the episodes is not the case, if only for the consideration of whether IMDB is reliable as a source. Thanks! Blightsoot 21:59, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

Weevils

• Yes, it did occur. But that is also speculation. And if true, a spoiler. Speculation has only one place on this wiki, in the forums. And spoilers belong only on pages with the spoiler tag, being the episode pages and the series page, not main articles. Main articles should be spoiler free, so even if they are set to appear, this information does not get added until the airing of the episode. The Thirteenth Doctor 21:38, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

Spoilers

Please do not add spoilers to pages, the instance that was last reverted was adding the "Eleventh Doctor Enemies" category to the Eye Patch Lady article. This cannot be added yet because she hasn't been confirmed as an enemy in a television episode that has been broadcast so far. --Revan\Talk 16:56, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

Update

Hey, could you please control your trigger finger in regards to the {{update}} template. Some of the articles you are adding it to are hardly in need of such things. For example, Rory Williams is lacking biographical details on an episode that was broadcast a mere three hours ago. This hardly qualifies it as being in need of the "major update" that the template proclaims to be necessary.

I understand that it's not solely your good self who is spearheading this recent spate and indeed it seems to be the done thing nowadays to slap this template around, but I've gotta start somewhere. Basically, in future, could you please ensure articles you flag are in need of a major update. Thanks--Skittles the hog - talk 21:01, September 17, 2011 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Edit summaries are necessary especially when you're reverting changes that have, themselves, been carefully summarised. Specifically, there's a great deal of confusion over why you're reverting Tybort's work with respect to the use of category:Torchwood Three allies, category:Torchwood Three enemies, and category:Torchwood Three personnel. He specifically noted why he was doing this.

In terms of wiki etiquette, it is up to you, as the person who reverted his minuted edits, to give an equally clear reason why you're reverting. Better still, you should take the matter to a forum page for discussion. Failrue to do this is a violation of our editing policy. Since this wiki is a collaborative effort, it's important to try to give an indication of what you're trying to accomplish, so that we can agree on a common way forward.

Additionally, you should be aware that there is a current forum discussion which will likely have an impact upon the names of these very categories. If you'd like to participate, please go to Forum:New Torchwood Team.

Christmas cheer

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

Lego Dimensions

I notice that you keep adding info to the LEGO Dimensions page about Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez being in the game. In actuality, no levels featuring either have been released yet, meaning inclusion of this info is against our spoiler policy. However, the recent release did include the first 11 Doctors and K9, as well as a surprise role by Davros, so info on all of that can be added. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 00:24, November 3, 2015 (UTC)
