"Chess-playing Cyberman" is a title based upon conjecture.

Check the behind the scenes section, the revision history and discussion page for additional comments on this article's title.

The Chess-playing Cyberman. (TV: Nightmare in Silver)

The Chess-playing Cyberman was an aged, ostensibly empty Cyberman shell of the Cyber Legions leftover from the Cyber Wars of the 250th Millennium. Named the 699th Wonder of the Universe, it was displayed before the Imperial Court and modified to play chess at Hedgewick's World of Wonders, where it was controlled by Porridge. This body was infested by Cybermites which used it to restrain Webley so they could partially convert him. (TV: Nightmare in Silver)

The helmet of the Chess-playing Cyberman in the Black Archive. (TV: The Day of the Doctor)

Despite the destruction of Hedgewick's World of Wonders, (TV: Nightmare in Silver) a Cyber-helmet with identical damage, missing its left side handle, appeared in the Black Archive in 2013. (TV: The Day of the Doctor) Missy later "liberated" the head of a Cyberman from the Archive. (AUDIO: The Lumiat)
