Sound Bytes was a Doctor Who Adventures comic strip published in 2011.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
A tiny spaceship is roaming London, and youngsters are going unconscious. But what's connecting it all?
Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams pursue a miniature spaceship flying down the street at head level. Suddenly it falls to the ground. A quick inspection with the sonic screwdriver confirms that its occupants, Virtuals, digital beings from a different dimension, have escaped and uploaded themselves to the internet. They hide in a music download, "Alien Infiltration". The news channels report strange behaviour all over London. Mostly, young people go into trances and take to the streets.
Amy is the first to spot the connection; everyone in a trance is wearing headphones. As they turn on the Doctor and his friends, Rory is thrown the Doctor's sonic screwdriver. He presses the second button and turns the twisty bit clockwise; the sonic feedback buys them time. Using Amy's phone to identify the track, the Doctor does some jiggery-pokery. With the sonic, he deletes the Virtuals from the Internet server, pastes them into Amy's phone and sends them back home. The signals ended, the trance state is broken and all returns to normal.
