Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
For Red Nose Day 1991, while Roger was reading a newspaper, Tom requested that Roger Mellie perform a special favour for Comic Relief, with Mellie remarking that he'd do his bit for the kids, and that it had never done Jimmy Savile any harm. For this, he was to do the introduction Comic Relief's new book, but with the requirement that he must keep it clean, which he claimed to be capable of. As they were in the lift, Mellie asked Tom what his cut would be of the book's profits, although he misinterpreted nobody getting a cut as the money instead being handed in a plain brown envelope without a word to the taxman. In the studio, he drunk several cans of alcohol shortly before the broadcast would begin. He began on his best behaviour, describing the contents of the book and what its purpose was, although just as he remarked that he'd been drinking all day and was "absolutely bursting for a pi-", Lenny Henry interrupted him by splatting a custard pie in his face, which greatly annoyed Mellie, with Tom reminding him that it was just a rehearsal.
He later stood near an elephant's ballsack as it did a poo, with Roger happily declaring "bollo-".
