I was not able to put this into the edit summary before but per Epsilon's comments about a lot of things like Reeltime Pictures, the difference between K9 and all those other things is that K9 is a TV series and hence been place out there for a general audience to see unlike the other things which we as Doctor Who fans know about and know where to find them if we wanted to. ::To play Devil's Advocate, we do list K9 in a TV-series-specific row on the Home Page, so even a total newbie could at first glance get a sense of "there are five DWU TV series, including K9" and be surprised at the fifth one being left out of Whoniverse. And I'm not convinced that T:NPOV inherently prevents us from treating K9 and Reeltime as "different in kind" simply because they are different media altogether. We give them different dab terms and prefixes, after all. If (oh, say…) a DVD release of Season 1 excluded An Unearthly Child, we would be within our rights to note that there is a single item fitting the criteria "Doctor Who, Season 1 episode, televised" missing from that collection; it would be neither here nor there to say "yes, but under NPOV, An Unearthly Child is not more important than The Klepton Parasites". Ergo if we have something which at first glance appears to be "a collection of all DWU broadcast-TV series", and a single TV series is left out, then it's not T:NPOV-breaking to make a note of that particular omission. It doesn't imply TV is more important than home video, it's just more contextually relevant. | |||

For example it includes some but not all Moffat-era mini-episodes; it includes some but not all BBC-produced documentaries before we even get into non-BBC documentaries; etc. etc. At a certain degree of non-inclusivity, individual omissions cease to be noteworthy. :::Well, yes. If the Whoniverse was solely concerned with TV things I'd disagree with the T:NPOV argument as I've laid it out. Because then there is a difference in kind, it's only one type of thing present in this iPlayer section, so I don't think NPOV quite works the same. I'm not suggesting that NPOV means we must place Reeltime works at List of Doctor Who television stories, because the very nature of that article (albeit, something that's somewhat controversial, see the talk) delineates a scope in which to consider NPOV that's different. The nature of this article doesn't delineate a hyper specific scope on TV stories, so to give them primacy is a NPOV violation. K9 is a TV series and hence been put out there for a general audience to see unlike the other thingsedit source
K9 is a TV series unlike Reeltime Pictures
I was not able to put this into the edit summary before but per Epsilon's comments about a lot of things like Reeltime Pictures, the difference between K9 and all those other things is that K9 is a TV series and hence been place out there for a general audience to see unlike the other things which we as Doctor Who fans know about and know where to find them if we wanted to. - T:NPOV. We do not place a higher emphasis on TV than HOMEVID. K9's lack of placement and Reeltime's are not different in kind. Najawin ☎ 05:58, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
I do not agree with this reasoning and I am sure readers are wondering why K9 being a TV series being placed out there for a general audience to see isn't included in Whoniverse BBC iPlayer and that simply because it isn't BBC property.Matsee1 ☎ 06:02, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sure the vast majority of readers are either aware of both K9 and Reeltime - and will understand the rights situation as such, or are aware of neither. I think the number who are aware of an Australian kids show that was on for 2 years over a decade ago and aren't aware of broader Doctor Who issues is going to be, well, miniscule. But once again, T:NPOV applies, in my mind. Najawin ☎ 06:20, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- To play Devil's Advocate, we do list K9 in a TV-series-specific row on the Home Page, so even a total newbie could at first glance get a sense of "there are five DWU TV series, including K9" and be surprised at the fifth one being left out of Whoniverse.
- But with all that said, in practice this argument somewhat breaks down insofar as the iPlayer Whoniverse portal isn't actually limited to TV series. For example it includes some but not all Moffat-era mini-episodes; it includes some but not all BBC-produced documentaries before we even get into non-BBC documentaries; etc. etc. At a certain degree of non-inclusivity, individual omissions cease to be noteworthy. - Well, yes. Najawin ☎ 19:05, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
