The resistance was an organisation set up to resist both the Daleks and the Time Lords in the Last Great Time War.
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
Origin[[edit] | [edit source]]
Whilst working to organise an evacuation of civilians before the destruction of Ysalus by the War Council, Celestial Intervention Agency agent Eris became disenfranchised with the war and worked with Knyla Shen to create a call to arms broadcast against President Rassilon’s regime. After the War Council erased Ysalus completely from time instead, Coordinator Romana had the signal preserved with temporal shielding and helped Eris flee Gallifrey, encouraging him to create a resistance whose aim was to stop the Time War.
The signal was initially picked up by the Sicari, (AUDIO: Collateral [+]Loading...["Collateral (audio story)"]) who launched a number of incursions on Gallifrey to attempt to assassinate Rassilon. With the aid of Romana and Prime Minister Livia, they almost succeeded but ultimately only managed to force Rassilon to regenerate. Romana and her deputy Narvin were subsequently exiled from Gallifrey for her actions. (AUDIO: Assassins [+]Loading...["Assassins (audio story)"])
In exile, Eris devoted his life and used his experience from his time in the Celestial Intervention Agency to covertly create the organisation with it's own resistance council. It was composed of exiled dissident Time Lords and people from races which had suffered from Rassilon’s campaign.
President Rassilon addressed the existence of the resistance in a single speech, branding them vermin and vowing they would be “exterminated” as such. (AUDIO: Deception [+]Loading...["Deception (audio story)"])

Leela accidentally ended up on Eris’ TARDIS as he was making for a deception field to free two agents who had been caught. With her help he successfully rescued them.
Once they’d regrouped, Narvin joined the resistance and help devised a plan to stop the war by poisoning the entire Time Vortex using deception field technology. (AUDIO: Deception [+]Loading...["Deception (audio story)"])
To poison the Vortex, the resistance planned to gain access to the Untempered Schism on Gallifrey using a stealth Battle TARDIS rigged to explode with deception field energies. Narvin and Leela piloted the TARDIS through Kasterborous however became caught up in the Daleks’ attempted invasion of Gallifrey via new null zone technology to bypass the Vortex. Realising their plan would fail to stop the War and only aid the Daleks, Narvin and Leela abandoned it and instead ageeed to help Livia and Mantus stop the Daleks and to rescue Romana from the invading Daleks’ custody. They detonated the TARDIS aboard the Dalek Emperor’s saucer right besides the null zone source, denying the new power to the Daleks. Further activity in the Time War[[edit] | [edit source]]
Narvin spent 70 years working for the resistance, helping investigate the Daleks’ restoration of when Phaidon to the universe. He subsequently asked Daari for the surviving Warpsmiths to become a part of the resistance. (AUDIO: The First Days of Phaidon [+]Loading...["The First Days of Phaidon (audio story)"])
On a mission to hide a star system from the war, Eris was forced to regenerate. He and Narvin worked together on a diplomatic mission to gain an alliance with Orrison before the Time Lords could but were foiled by Prince Feri’s inconsistent negotiations, though Narvin talked Eris down from using a contingency to destroy Orrison’s resources. (AUDIO: Collaborators [+]Loading...["Collaborators (audio story)"]) Narvin later supplied resistance intelligence and weapons to Leela to aid the assault on Dalek-occupied Orrison she helped organise with Rasmus and the General, which was caught by Cardinal Ollistra who used it to blackmail Rasmus and the General into yielding to her leadership of the War Room. Narvin led a resistance cell whose members included Targ, a Nekkistani; Syzyg, a Sunari; and Hoth a Archetryxian. One mission they went on was to disable Dalek cobalt missiles, though Narvin sent the cell to safety whilst he went on alone to accomplish the mission. They survived to the end of the Time War.
