George McDermott was the head of production at the Farrel Plastics factory in the 1970s.

McDermott objected to the changes introduced by Colonel Masters, a.k.a. the Master, who killed him with a Nestene-controlled plastic chair.

Rex Farrel subsequently asked his secretary Sylvia to check McDermott's entitlement on termination of employment.

When Rex's father John Farrel arrived and learned McDermott was dead, Rex claimed that McDermott had suddenly died while testing the aforementioned chair. (TV: Terror of the Autons)
