Table of contents shift
Hey!
Heya, just wanted to drop a note on your page about why I reverted your reversion of my changes to the various infoboxes.  The moving of the TOC to the right is to help avoid the huge masses of white space that can occur on pages with long tables of content, like episode pages.  I've spent the last couple of days examining the wiki on a page by page basis to determine whether it is, as you've alleged in your revision notes, making "all the pages" look bad.  And that's certainly not the case in the various skins and browsers I've examined.  The matter will of course be put up for discussion at the forum, so you'll have a chance to participate then, perhaps as soon as today.  Because this change behaves in a highly individualistic way — every page looks different — I just wanted to be able to study it before proposing the change be made permanent.  I hope you understand that the matter can't be properly considered by the community at large unless you leave the change in place until the discussion is closed.  Thanks :)  <span style="background:blue;color:white">Czech</span><span style="background:red;color:white">Out</span>  ☎ | <font size="+1">✍</font> 16:50, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

:Just to follow up on one of your revision notes, this is not an issue which could have been tested on some sandbox before "going live" on the site.  It's not actually a new template, over which the coder can have precise control.  It's simply the moving of the TOC, which is different on every page, to the right-hand side of the page.  It must be observed as a "live" feature in order to fairly assess its performance.  And as for "site staff", I have no idea what you mean.  We are the site staff.  <span style="background:blue;color:white">Czech</span><span style="background:red;color:white">Out</span>  ☎ | <font size="+1">✍</font> 16:59, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
::One of the fundamental rules of wiki editing is the concept of being bold.  Unlike Wikipedia, however, we don't have a "staff" here, so much as three or four active admins.  Unless people actually grab the bull by the horns and change things, nothing gets done.  That said, I am a big proponent of putting things up for community discussion.  It's just that this particular change has to be seen to be discussed intelligently.  <span style="background:blue;color:white">Czech</span><span style="background:red;color:white">Out</span>  ☎ | <font size="+1">✍</font> 17:08, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
:::Hi again :)  Look, it's no big thing, but you might want to be careful throwing around a word like "vandalism".  Especially since my changes were annotated in the revision history.  And since it's obvious I've been carrying on conversations with other users about this change.  Vandalism doesn't mean "a change I don't like".  It means the intentional changing of an article in an unconstructive way, such as blanking it, filling it with irrelevant text, the addition of advertising, or the like.  This is an effort to improve the text flow of articles.  You may not like the way it looks, but that doesn't make it vandalism, a very serious charge.  It has already been examined and commented upon by Tangerineduel, who has accepted that it must be examined "live" on pages.  If you look at the history of my nearly 15,000 contributions, I think you'll find it extremely unlikely that I'd intentionally commit an act of vandalism.  I'd appreciate it if you assumed I was editing in good faith — just as I believe that your reversion was done in good faith, if without understanding fully what was going on.  <span style="background:blue;color:white">Czech</span><span style="background:red;color:white">Out</span>  ☎ | <font size="+1">✍</font> 17:48, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

Speculation
Speculation is where a user makes predictions about what things mean with nothing to back it up. What is on the Howling halls page is relevant information that is sourced using all available material in the story. Revanvolatrelundar 17:15, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Note
Jenny is an "In-universe article" - which mean is the info something the Doctor Who universe, all that information should be one after the other (eg.g Biography, personality, see also). Behind the scenes should go at the end because it is "out of universe" which means is information from the real world. It is easier to have everything that is on and in-universe page to have everything in-universe together to starts the page, and the behind the scenes, the only out of universe section in the in-universe article, to come last.

Also note, that an admin added the bit of information on the Howling Halls to stop this edit war. I would view there comments on the talk page, as it suggest User who have edit may be blocked. Mini-mitch 19:58, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with the above.--Skittles the hog--<small>Talk</small> 20:00, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

::I refer you to this. This states that all additional sub headings, expect footnotes and External links should come before Behind the scenes. I would also like to say that Tangerineduel made it himself. Mini-mitch 20:05, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

:::The heading 'Additional sub-headings'. Now, if there is not section in that article about See also, that may suggest that See also is grouped as additional sub-headings (even although it does not say, you your common sense). Mini-mitch 20:20, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

See Also
I do see that you are right on this occassion. however the see also section does belong above behind the scenes as it is in-universe where as behind the scenes is out of universe and should be seperated accordingly. I will raise the issue on the forum. Revanvolatrelundar 20:04, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Spoiler question
Yours is a good question. I had to hunt about on the spoiler policy page before I could find any mention of story titles. I finally found it under "Official Info", where it says, "What, then, do we do with information that comes from a reputable source like the BBC itself? We use it only on the series page. It cannot be used elsewhere. The three biggest types of "official" info are story titles, casting information, and the odd leak of in-universe information."

Story pages
So under normal circumstances, an upcoming story title can go on the related series page. It's just that the 50th anniversary special and the Christmas special are not considered part of series 7 or 8, so there is no place to list their titles before their releases (except of course at the Howling).

Hi.  Story pages are out of universe.  This has been confirmed time and time again through several rounds of forum discussion, stretching back years. The lead sections are completely appropriate.  Please do not move the leads that I've been painstakingly writing. :Just to clarify, that means the entirety of story page are real world.  See, for instance, the appropriate tag up at The Mind of Evil.  Leads, therefore are there to give an overview of the entire significance of a serial. ::On what basis do you judge the lead too long?  How did you decide which parts to remove and which parts to keep.  You just randomly chopped certain paragraphs.  What's important to you in the lead may not be important to others.  The lead was designed to accommodate the interests of a wide variety of readers.  In sum, the lead didn't offend any rule on the wiki, so you have no grounds to hack it upYhid is an unusually long lead because Hive stands at the gateway of a new era of Doctor Who.  It deserves the extra space.  Clearly you and I have different views on this.  Let's not get into an edit war.  Let's restore my original lead text and have it discussed by the wider community.  You know, like you're supposed to do on a wiki.  <span style="background:blue;color:white">Czech</span><span style="background:red;color:white">Out</span>  ☎ | <font size="+1">✍</font> 02:09, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:
~ ~ ~ ~

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask an admin.

So under normal circumstances, an upcoming story title can go on the related series page. It's just that the 50th anniversary special and the Christmas special are not considered part of series 7 or 8, so there is no place to list their titles before their releases (except of course at the Howling).

Hope that answers your question! Shambala108 20:44, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

Not sure it's quite as hard to find as Shambala makes out. It's covered at T:SPOIL DEF, which defines a spoiler as "any information about an unbroadcast or unreleased story". A title would be part of "any information".

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

I hope I didn't make a mistake with the external link. I can only open one page at a time on my computer, so I have to read, close, and go back and work. If I am in error I will do my best not to repeat it.

Re:Quick questionedit source

Hi! I've added a response to your and User:Mewiet's discussion at my talk page. Thanks! Shambala108 14:23, July 12, 2014 (UTC)

In order to stop Shambala getting pinged every single time one of you responds, I've moved the matter to the neutral ground of Thread:158757.

The Giftedit source

Per T:BOUND, just because you disagree with policy, doesn't mean you can ignore it. You can't simply declare it "invalid". As such I'm going to be enforcing Thread:149557 on the relevant pages, and if you would like to change policy, you can bring it up at Board:The Panopticon. Page movesedit source

Hi! Please note that, per Thread:128198, only admins are allowed to move pages. By moving Pond Life (webcast) to Pond Life (TV story), you've left behind a redirect that will take some time to clean up. In the future, if something needs to be renamed/moved, please just add a rename tag. Thanks! Shambala108 02:05, September 15, 2015 (UTC)

Re: Prologueedit source

Hi! I don't know the answer to your question (I haven't even seen the story yet), but I will start a forum page to see what other users can tell us. Shambala108 02:37, September 18, 2015 (UTC)
